About the West Daly Regional Council

The West Daly Regional Council commenced operation on July 1st, 2014, in response to an identified need to present a stronger voice and greater control over the delivery of services in the West Daly area. The new council entity covers the Wadeye-Peppimenarti-Palumpa areas and exists to serve and strengthen the community through the laws, policies and programs of Councils and the Northern Territory Government.

About the Opportunity

West Daly Regional Council has a rewarding opportunity for a full-time Administration Officer to join their team based in Wadeye, NT, on a 12 month contract basis.

Reporting to the , you will be responsible for providing a high standard of administrative support to all departments of the West Daly Regional Council and exceptional customer service to the Community.

Your day-to-day duties will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Dealing with a range of customer queries by phone, email, fax and face to face;
  • Maintaining records, drafting correspondence, filing, scheduling appointments and meetings, making travel arrangements, and organising meetings and functions;
  • Creating purchase orders and receipt of goods;
  • Managing petty cash, reconciliation and banking;
  • Checking and collating employee time sheets and submitting to Payroll;
  • Supervising a small team, and providing coaching and mentoring to staff where required; and
  • Providing transportation in Aged Care bus as required.

To be successful in this position, you will have an excellent track record in carrying out administrative tasks, along with the ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion with regards to sensitive issues. Your well-honed interpersonal and communication skills will help you build strong and effective relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

West Daly Regional Council is seeking applications from organised, motivated and driven professionals with excellent time management skills and the ability to balance competing priorities and workloads to meet deadlines. Your attention to detail and ability to work independently in a collaborative team environment will be key to your success. You'll also have an understanding of a range of computer programs, and sound knowledge of WHS principles.

Although not essential, candidates with tertiary qualifications in a related field and experience with Technology1 and InfoXpert, will be highly regarded.

A current Driver's Licence and Working with Children (OCHRE) Card are essential for this role, as is a sound knowledge of the principles of Work Health and Safety. The successful candidate will also require a National Police Clearance check.

Previous experience living and/or working within a remote Indigenous community is highly desirable, however is not mandatory.
